I had the pleasure of having the Vapor Apparel Guys, Gus, Chris and youth anglers Abigail and Max on the boat for The 2017 Lowcountry Open Tournament here in Charleston, SC. We, as Team Vapor Apparel, fished the inshore division and what a successful day it was out there for us. On a warm May Saturday in Charleston, SC, we started up river at 7a.m. to find a low outgoing tide on a flat full of feeding redfish. We started out targeting them with live shrimp on Carolina Rigs and Jig Heads, but that just wasn’t working for them. So, we adjusted to the situation and cast net some live finger mullet. Fresh cut finger or live whole finger mullet was the “ticket”. If we put 4 rods in the water, ALL 4 rods were bent! We caught more redfish than we could count in the morning. The youth anglers really stood out and put a hurting on the redfish that morning. Not to mention the monster 25″, almost 5lb GATOR TROUT that was caught! Young Abigail really made her mark as she WON Biggest Trout Overall and Youth Angler Champion Awards! Proud of everyone I fished with on the boat! Looking forward to next year!
