The wind has finally laid down and we have been able to get out off the beach and to deeper water. Which means aggressive bull redfish. It’s a great time of the year to hop in the boat, drive out into the sunrise and cast net some live menhaden and head out to the rocks. Using Medium Heavy tackle such as 6000 series spinning reels and Medium Heavy action 7′ rods rigged with a carolina rig with enough weight to keep you on the bottom. Targeting any area of the jetty rocks that is different, such as bends, cuts, points can produce quality redfish. Vertical jigging the jetty rocks with artificial baits like the Z-Man Jerk Shad patterns on a 1oz jig head can also be productive.
